CUSTOMER'S WISHES - DO NOT DISTURB, AND HELP. A professional decorator considers working with a difficult customer not as bad luck, but as an opportunity to increase his own efficiency. A demanding customer who is difficult to please stimulates the search for innovative solutions.
PAPPIOUS DINING ROOMS - IN THE PAST. If the house has a separate dining room, then for unknown reasons they seek to make it as grandiose as possible. Probably, guided by associations with ancient castles, where the whole family decorously ate food several times a day. But times have changed, and in a heavy and pathos atmosphere, a modern person will feel uncomfortable. Therefore, it is better to strive to create a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere in the dining room.
DO NOT BE AFRAID OF ERRORS. Without bold experiments, not a single outstanding interior was created. Better to make a mistake and fix it, than miss the opportunity to achieve impressive results in the decoration.
In 1806, Joseph and his wife Madeline La Framboise, who was Métis, traveled by canoe from Mackinac and established the first trading post in West Michigan in present-day Grand Rapids on the banks of the Grand River, near what is now Ada Township, the junction of the Grand and Thornapple Rivers. They were French-speaking and Roman Catholic. They likely both spoke Ottawa, Madeline’s maternal ancestral language.
After the murder of her husband in 1809 while en route to Grand Rapids, Madeline La Framboise carried on the trade business, expanding fur trading posts to the west and north, creating a good reputation among the American Fur Company. La Framboise, whose mother was Ottawa and father French, later merged her successful operations with the American Fur Company. By 1810, Chief Noonday established a village on the west side of the river with about 500 Ottawa.
FULL DISCLAIMER OF ARTIFICIAL TEXTILES. Most professional decorators strictly observe the principle of completely abandoning artificial textiles in favor of natural textiles. Cotton, wool, silk, linen are the only possible options for materials. Costs are increasing, but the result is worth it.
STYLE - THIS CONDITION. Denying the boundaries of existing styles is not part of our plans. But in the process of decorating living space, you should not strictly observe them. Much more important is how the owners of the house feel themselves in it, and not the full compliance of the design with a certain style.
ACCENT WALL INSTEAD OF FULL REPAIR. If the existing color scheme of the room is tired, then completely repainting the walls is not necessary. Try creating an accent wall by painting it in a contrasting shade. It will take a couple of hours, and the effect of the update will be noticeable.
DISCLAIMER OF AGGRESSIVE FORMS AND COLORS. Most professional decorators are of the opinion that the main and necessary characteristics of a living space are comfort and a relaxing atmosphere. It is better to create a corner of calm in the house than to opt for aggressive shapes and colors.
